Draft Horse Dreams! I bless the hoss from hoof to head - A lovely horse is always an experience.... It is an emotional experience of the kind that is spoiled by words. ~Beryl Markham
From head to hoof, and tale to mane! -
I bless the hoss, as I have said,
From head to hoof, and back again!

Welcome to our draft horse page. This is our adventure into the world of owning, driving and riding a draft horse. Lexi the Belgian came to the farm Feb., 2008. We use her to log parts of the property, pull a stone boat, pull a buggy, and to ride. As a 5 month old foal Lexi was rescued by her previous owners from a PMU (Pregnant Mare Urine, the chief component in the medicine Premarin) Farm in Canada. Please do a search online if you take this medication, if for no other reason than to educate yourself about the process and effect on the animals abused in its production.
Lexi will continue to grow until she is eight years old. As of now she is four years old, 16.2hh and approximately 1400 lbs (her chest circumference is 80 inches!).
Lexi was trained by Angela Richmond of Palestine, who uses the Clinton Anderson Natural Horsemanship method. Lexi is proof positive of how effective and positive this method is. One of our first goals is to educate ourselves so that we can continue to reinforce her training, as well as train ourselves.
Thank you for joining us on this exciting journey! Please check back for updates posted in the Farm Journal.
